Even them most adventurous eaters are creatures of habit, filling their grocery baskets with similar items from week to week. Cut down on time (and money) spent at the grocery store by creating a master shopping list for your family.
Getting started is the hardest part. Find a quiet hour to write out all the items you normally buy and use that list as a guide for the first week, making changes and adjustments as you think of them. Once you have a reliable list made, type it up and break it into categories (either by food type, “dairy,” or grocery isle, “baking,” whichever is easiest for you). Post a new list on the fridge each week and encourage everyone in the family to circle an item once it’’s used up.
Another easy customization tip is to leave some space at the bottom of the master list to handwrite in special ingredients each week, items you”ll need for a particular recipe or event.
