Creating traditions with your family is a way to stay close and enjoy time together. My family has a few little traditions of our own that I’d love to share.
HEAT TOWELS for one another- it only takes an extra moment. My sons both hated getting out of the bath when they were babies, so I thought about different ways to seduce them out of the bath (including cookies and candy), however, nothing works better than a heated towel. Now, we all heat towels for each other!
BREAKFAST IN BED, on special occasions, can be wonderful. We have a tradition in our house that the birthday boy/girl decides what they want for their breakfast in bed, and then on the morning of their birthday the entire family comes into the room singing happy birthday with a breakfast tray, gifts, and cards. We usually video tape it and then everyone piles in bed and watches TV together.
Small traditions like this give my family something to look forward to, and I’m hopeful that my boys will pass them along to their own families someday!
